Today is Valentines Day or V-Day as known in our house Chumps! We totally had to work insanely long hours and then we came home and crashed hardcore. We reminisced about yonder V-Days where we had more freedom and we were driven by our insane desire for each other's... well... you know. If you don't, ask your mom. Our first V-Day we were in Florence SC and we went to a local oyster bar for steamed oysters. Then we drove around in a town we were unfamiliar with and found a local ice cream joint to sweeten the night just right.
Four years ago I put together a huge package of drinks, candy, chocolates and gifts and left a trail through the house. She promptly gave half of the candy to her friends at work and told me that she'd never eat that much candy in a "million years." I told her that she wasn't going to live that long. So I've learned my lesson and I haven't given her a smorgasbord of food since... at least not on V-Day.
Two years ago we went to Leavenworth, WA when April surprised me and whisked me away for the weekend. That was pretty dang fun. We'd never been to the ole German haven up in the mountains of Central Washington and we had a great time. So much so in fact that we decided to go again next year. Well, actually I surprised her and we went for our yearly "Rain Break" which is much needed when you live in these parts Pardner. Let me tell you that if you want to go somewhere fun up in the mountains, relax to the max, eat great food, drink great beer and just exist peacefully Leavenworth in the Spring is the place to go.
So now's when you the reader get to comment on some of your V-Day experiences. Leave a comment about your favorite V-Day experience. We're going to see if we can break our record of 4 comments in which I was two of them. DO IT DOUG!!!
Its so sad - we can't even remember our "best" VD day. Doug just says "Bah Humbug"!
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear that you are going to Hawaii in the Fall. We should be there by November. Maybe we will run into you. Wouldn't that be fun!
In fifth grade I received a single red rose and a single dollar bill on Valentine's Day. Let's just say that didn't work out, thank God! Mike gives me many more flowers and many more singles :)
ReplyDeleteWell, we don't typically celebrate the V.D. But this year Lindsey decided to make a nice dinner for the boys. She made a lamb roast, mash potatos, and creme brulee. Good stuff.
ReplyDeleteI even wore a pink tie to work... I must be getting soft in my old age.
